Markela Koniordou, BSc, MRes

Associate Director

Following her studies in Biology and Biomedical Research at University College London in the UK, Markela began her research career in the development of drugs for cancer and neglected tropical diseases. Her participation in global health programs led her to further training in epidemiology and public health and gradually to management positions in international health programs in Europe, Asia and Africa (UKaid, IMI2, FP7, H2020), with a focus on infection control and the development of research networks. Having gained valuable experience in communications and project evaluation, Markela plays a central role in managing ongoing projects, the strategic development new projects and coordinating CLEO’s internal operations. Her main scientific interests concern the prevention and control of disease, health and environmental change and the health communication.
